RHS Tatton Park Flower Show winners announced

Gardeners have been honoured for their green fingers at this years Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Tatton Park Flower show.

The enthusiasts created gardens, including a "green" themed piece, to help them on their way to one silver and two bronze awards.

Ladies That Lunch was designed by ex- offenders and took bronze, while the other bronze went to a copy of Fletcher Moss Gardens in Didsbury.

Best show garden went to Cheshires Year of Gardens 08, while Hampshire Carnivorous Plants won best Exhibit in the RHS Floral Marquee.

Councillor Paul Andrews said: "These awards are richly deserved and reflect the effort, energy and care which have clearly gone into producing those high quality entries."

The gardens from the show will now be recycled by being used as part of this years Manchester in bloom.

Many prize-winning gardeners start off with their own greenhouse, while other greenhouse owners simply grow things for the fun or the beauty of it.
