RHS plant encyclopaedia to be re-issued

The new edition of a garden and greenhouse bible that has sold millions of copies is to go on sale next week.

From September 1st, growers will be able to get their green fingers on the latest issue of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Encyclopaedia of Plants & Flowers.

Priced at £28 for those who buy online and £35 in the shops, the publication was first released in 1987 and has sold almost three million copies around the world.

It features more than 8,000 plants, thousands of images and a whole host of useful gardening information.

Hints and tips include which plants are suitable for particular conditions, soils, sites and purposes.

A ten-section plant catalogue should help growers keep on top of their collection and identify new species that they would like to introduce.

Full colour spreads help readers to visualise the plans in question in vivid detail, while the plant dictionary is also a useful addition.

In other news, the RHS reported that a tiny beetle is set to be used to fight off the masses of water fern that is clogging a Somerset waterway.
