RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show – The Invisible Garden

Whilst the RHS Chelsea Flower Show is the key social event in the horticultural calendar, the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show is the most important event for the average gardener and their families.

Indeed families and children are at the heart of this year’s show with the RHS Invisible Garden – a dark and magical world of underground creatures – proving to be hit with both children and adults alike.

Opened by comedian and horticulturalist Billy Bailey, the Invisible Garden has helped stoke childhood memories of investigating micro-organisms such as stag beetles;

“What I think is so fantastic about this exhibit is that it is encouraging children to get involved in the garden and look at it in a different way. There are lots of microscopes and petri dishes and butterfly wings and insects …it is a crucial part of a first interest or engagement with the natural world.
