Public and private greenhouses to open for special tour

Gardeners in New Carolina are to be offered the chance to see top greenhouse-growing techniques at first hand.

Following on from the success of the event in recent years, greenhouses across New Hannover County are to open their doors to the public over the weekend to give amateur gardeners the chance to see for themselves the advantages of growing under glass, the local Star News newspaper has reported.

The Hobby Greenhouse Tour will see green-fingered enthusiasts take a free self-guided tour of a number of top botanical locations, including the Hannover County Arboretum, with specially-printed leaflets offering growing tips and information about crops.

In addition, the tour will also take in a number of commercial and institutional greenhouses.

At the same time, the Texas Daffodil Society is gearing up for its annual flower show, to be held under glass at the Dallas Arboretum over the next week.
