Property value recovery years away

Those hoping house prices will quickly bounce back to 2008 levels are unlikely to get their wish, it has been stated.

PricewaterhouseCoopers suggested there is a 30 per cent chance a full recovery is will not take until around 2020, but the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) said its prediction was for 2015.

Trevor Kent is a spokesman for the latter and said it was hard to argue with the former as it specialises in predicting such trends.

However, he said he hoped the recovery would come sooner.

"I would accept that the likely pace of recovery is going to be very gradual," Mr Kent stated. "I dont think we have any further to fall now … but there will be the occasional small percentage correction each month."

The predictions could lead those considering a move to change their mind and invest in improving their property.

A roof light could help make use of attic space, while a conservatory might illuminate the home to a greater degree.
