The positioning of furniture and other objects in a living space can help people to make the most of their rooms, it has been asserted.

Industry expert Heather Mourer makes her comments in online resource Colorado Springs Gazette, suggesting that a gorgeous living room requires an focal point such as a fireplace, artwork or stunning view – which could be seen through glass sliding doors – to anchor itself to.

The publication suggests that home improvers soften their space with the use of delicate cosy touches.

"Hang beautiful drapes in the windows or use a soft, luxurious fabric on your upholstery or pillows," it recommends.

Finally, to create a sense of balance in the room, Ms Mourer says that furniture should be evenly placed throughout the space.
