With the Obamas barely even settled in at the White House, the new president is already coming under pressure from Americans.
However, the issue is not the financial situation, nor is it foreign policy. Barack Obama is instead being urged to commission a White House kitchen garden to grow food for the first family and provide an organic supply for the local food bank.
The campaign is the brainchild of Kitchen Gardens International founder Roger Doiron, who wants part of the White Houses 18-acre front lawn to be turned into a war-style victory garden.
Organic gardening has been touted as a good way of keeping fit and healthy while saving money at a time when many people are concerned about the financial situation.
Mr Doirons idea, called Eat the View, won a national competition that will see him present a pitch to White House Staff.
He beat off 4,000 other entrants, gaining more than twice the number of votes as the second-placed idea, called Create Cabinet-level Department of Peace.
The White House already has a rose garden and the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden on its grounds.
