Northumberland gardeners to get free advice

Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts in the Northumberland area are this weekend (April 17th and 18th) able to get free horticultural advice from a local attraction.

Heighley Gate Nursery and Garden Centre is offering complimentary advice for would-be food growers.

According to the Morpeth Herald, the site is keen to showcase what can be grown in a vegetable plot and has created a display model to highlight the range of tasty grub that can be produced in the garden.

Furthermore, BBC gardener of the year Bob Tridgett will be in attendance on Tuesday next week to offer his expert advice to customers by holding a free surgery.

General manager Roger Wale explained that the event will give gardeners a chance to ask any burning questions they may have.

"People may want suggestions on what to plant where, or what plants go together, and Bob will be happy to suggest what he thinks would work best for their garden," he said.

In other news, garden and greenhouse enthusiasts can now head to a new online resource – BayerAdvanced.com – which has tips for all levels of horticulturalists.
