New laminated glass launched

Consumers aiming to improve the environmental efficiency of their glass structures may be interested in glassing manufacturer PPGs latest innovation.

The firm explains that its Solarban 70XL product is now available in a laminated version.

Following a range of tests, the glass will now be offered with a number of interlayers to help reduce heat loss.

According to the company, the material is able to combine the clarity of colour-neutral glass with a combination of solar control and visible light transmittance.

The product is already widely used in a range of commercial buildings, such as offices, to help improve insulation and reduce energy costs.

In related news, glazer Guardian Industries recently announced the development of a new vacuum-insulated glass which features internal pillars and a space in the middle which effectively eliminates two ways in which heat travels – convection and conduction.

The typical thickness of the panel will be between 6.5 and 11 mm.
