Mothers Day event to be held at RHS Wisley

Kids looking for somewhere to take mum for Mothers Day this Sunday (March 22nd) may be interested to hear that the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is set to hold a special event to mark the day at its Wisley gardens.

While gardeners can enjoy a talk on the care and cultivation of alpines from RHS expert Lucie Rudnicka, children can get to work making a painted pot as a present for Mothers Day at the Clore Learning Centre.

Parents might also enjoy a walk by the canal, where the spring bulbs are blooming, or in the Pinetum or Arboretum areas, which have an array of daffodils, magnolia and blossom on show.

Those who prefer more exotic plants may head to the Glasshouse – a giant greenhouse containing a display of orchids.

Adult admission is £8.50 and children will be charged £2.50, although RHS members will get in for free.

Gardeners in London will also soon be able to attend another RHS event – the London Greener Gardening Show takes place on March 31st and April 1st.
