Many reasons to garden in containers
There are many benefits to gardening in containers, an industry commentator has suggested.
Norman Winter writes in online resource Pantagraph.com that as well as being great fun, the practice allows horticultural enthusiasts to look after their environment more easily due to it being a smaller space.
Mr Winter notes that many gardeners are also opting for window boxes, suggesting that they allow people to enjoy the beauty of the plants as well as having the appearance of their home improved by the blooms.
He states that the most important consideration for such a container is a good, lightweight potting mix but that a hold in the bottom for drainage is also crucial to stop the plants from being overwhelmed with water.
Meanwhile, the BBC suggests that horticultural enthusiasts choose reliable perennials and annual flowers for their window boxes to ensure they achieve a colourful, year-round floral display for their windowsills.
