Makeover show updates conservatory and dining room

Last night saw a retired couple from Harpenden appear on TV makeover programme Love The Place.

The UKTV Style programme followed the £30,000 makeover of the couples 1960s bungalow, which included adding a new kitchen and dining area and a bar in their conservatory.

When asked what she thought of the changes, 55-year-old Liz Murphy seemed delighted with the results, in spite of the work taking longer than planned.

"I really enjoyed being part of a TV show but I couldnt go through all the building work again," she is reported as saying in the Herts Advertiser.

"It wasnt the builders fault but we were cursed with bad weather.

"However, the end product is really different and worth all the effort. The house now has a wow factor it didnt have before."

A growing number of home owners are going down the same route as Mrs Murphy and her husband Chris.

Many will now choose to add a conservatory or update their dining area rather than move home, due to house prices being in free-fall for around a year now.
