London gardeners to benefit from May Day design trail

Gardening enthusiasts in the capital are set to benefit from an insight into some of the best uses of greenhouses in the city as the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) once again hosts an annual Great London Garden Trail.

Following on from the success of last years event, which saw 5,000 people take part, the RHS has confirmed plans to once again team up with the Society of Garden Designers (SGD) on the upcoming May Bank Holiday.

The one-day event will see ten private gardens, created by some of the best designers of today, opened up to the public across London.

As well as giving visitors an insight into current and future design trends, the London Garden Trail will also enable enthusiasts to take note of design and growing best practice, possibly including the use of greenhouses in the modern garden and which plants and flowers are in vogue right now.

At the start of the month, gardeners were advised by San Francisco Chronicle expert Erle Nickel that good soil is the key to any successful garden.
