How to quickly improve the garden

Garden and greenhouse owners have been given some summer tips for quickly improving their green space.

With the warmer months approaching, many Brits may find themselves too busy to properly renovate their outdoor area, but Ronseal suggested that it does not take much to get it looking sharper.

According to the firm, homeowners may take inspiration from the forthcoming Chelsea Flower Show and find the encouragement they need to get outdoors.

"Container planting is a great way to turn a paved area into a green oasis," a spokeswoman for the firm said.

"Opt for sturdy, hardy perennials like hardy buxus, choisya aztec pearl and dwarf rhododendron, ivy, bay or small conifers."

She added that even a quick tidy up of the garden could prove fruitful and that simple things like clever storage can make all the difference.

The expert suggested that a shed or boxes may be good for storing things in, although those who wish to keep plants alive but out of sight for a while may be better served with a greenhouse.
