People who work hard in their garden and greenhouse to make their outdoor space beautiful may wish to protect themselves from theft or damage, it has been suggested.
A number of insurance firms, including Halifax and Saga, have advised the warmer months always bring a rise in garden crime.
The latest provider to warn of the dangers is Cheshire Building Society, which said growers should check their policy documents to ensure their outdoor furniture, plants and other garden items are included.
Serious horticulturalists may also want to check their greenhouse is covered to make sure they are not left with large costs following malicious damage.
A number of people assume everything is included in their policy, explained Cheshire Building Society product manager Karen Torson.
"This isnt always the case and it can leave people feeling hugely let down by their insurance providers if their claim is not met in full or, worse still, declined," she said.
