Green inspiration offered

People eager to recreate the look of Tom Stuart-Smiths garden for Laurent-Perrier, which won the title of best in show at the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show, have been offered tips by the Daily Telegraph.

The publication notes that its own show garden also had a cool green theme running throughout it and offers advice to horticultural enthusiasts looking for inspiration.

Euphorbia characias – or Silver Swan – is recommended for its whorls of grey-green leaves, each of which is finely-lined in white.

Meanwhile, Tellima grandiflora has scalloped leaves and is perfect for dry shade with its lime-green bells on long stems.

Finally, the Iris sibirica – also known as Snow Queen – features cool-coloured blooms which are perfect for combining with other plants.

The Daily Telegraphs show garden – which picked up a gold medal at the event – was created by designer Arabella Lennox-Boyd and was praised for its restrained and sophisticated scheme.
