Gardeners should opt for colour this winter

According to editor of stopwatchgardener.com Sheila Averbuch, advised people to try and grow flowers near the door or the window because it helps brighten moods in the dreary winter conditions when people are entering and leaving a house.

Ms Averbuch also said people should be looking to have their garden in some kind of shape, for instance evergreens that may have become fluffy and overgrown should be trimmed for aesthetic reasons.

She added: “Even having one of those [plant pots] on either side of your front door makes you think ‘oh I’ve got a proper house and isn’t this lovely?”
