Gardeners advised on what to plant during Olympics

Gardeners are unhappy at having been advised what colours and specifically which flowers to use in their gardens in order to make the competition as aesthetically pleasing as possible.

The local council and horticultural societies were urged to forward on an email to their residents and members to make people aware of what LOCOG expected.

“Whether using existing hanging baskets and flower beds or creating something entirely new, creative planting using vibrant colour and the London 2012 shapes and patterns might be a project you want to consider,” the email read.

The Olympic cycle road race will be taking place through Surrey on July 28th and 29th and there is expected to be up to a million spectators for the men’s and women’s races
