Garden & Leisure Group director rewarded

Garden & Leisure Group operations director Carol Paris has been recognised for her services to horticulture at a recent prize-giving in London.

The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) vice-president and board member received the Charles Pearson Memorial Medal at the HTA’s Garden Futures Conference, Horticulture Week reported.

Created in 1930 to commemorate the life of the HTA’s first ever general secretary, Charles Pearson, the gong is much sought after in the garden and greenhouse world.

"Carol provides a huge and selfless contribution to our industry," HTA president Caroline Owen said, according to the website.

"The medal is awarded annually to someone who has made a contribution to the industry way above and beyond the ordinary, and I can think of no finer winner."

She added that Ms Paris has given selflessly by contributing so much to the sector without simply focusing on her own fortunes.
