Garden and greenhouse lovers should grow asters for autumn garden colour

A national newspaper has given garden and greenhouse fans a hint for keeping their outdoor space looking good during autumn.

Those who find their colourful display fading may wish to try adding some Michaelmas daisies, the Daily Mail suggested.

It explained these should keep the garden looking bright almost into winter, with whites, reds, pinks, lavenders, purples and blues.

Greenhouse lovers looking for good examples of the asters – as they are known – should take a trip to the Picton Garden at Old Court Nurseries in Hertfordshire, the article suggested.

Here there are nearly 400 different varieties to see, meaning gardeners can decide which kind and colour will suit their space best.

Owner Paul Picton explained asters are one of the few flowers in bloom later in the year.

"Grow them and you can have fresh flowers in September, October and November," he told the newspap
