Dublin property benefits from three renovations

A Victorian semi-detached building in Dublin has benefited from three waves of regeneration which have left it as a colourful space in which to live.

Mary OSullivan writes in online resource Independent.ie that architect Greg Tisdall first had the dividers that separated the house into bedsits removed and fumigated the property, as well as installing timber floors and new doors.

The second stage involved the installation of a kitchen extension to the back of the property and the integration of a great deal of glass to ensure an abundance of natural light.

"We need lots of colour in Ireland to brighten up the gloomy winter days. We should have a sense of sunlight," Greg explains.

The final phase saw new bay windows and repointed brickwork as well as a renewed roof.

In related news, a remote-controlled glass roof was recently identified by the Times as the "piece de resistance" of a property in Knightsbridge.
