Curtains and blinds keep in conservatory heat

Conservatory owners look set to make full use of their curtains and blinds this year in a bid to cut down on costs, new research suggests.

In a survey by npower, 77 per cent of respondents committed to improving their energy efficiency by making use of blinds and curtains.

By contrast, nearly eight in ten (79 per cent) intend to improve their bespoke conservatory efficiency with better light bulbs.

However, only half of Britons seem interested in making energy efficiency improvements to their homes, with the majority doing it to save money rather than the environment.

Meanwhile, less than one in ten (eight per cent) intend to install double glazing in to keep out the cold and save energy in their homes.

Npower urged Britons to keep drafts out by using sealant strips on windows, which will help to retain heat in bespoke conservatories.
