Could sports enthusiasts benefit from greenhouses?

Performance nutritionist and sports scientist for the London Irish rugby club Laurent Bannock said that taking “fancy” pills and supplements will have no positive bearing on a person’s sporting performance if their diet is bad to begin with.

He suggested that consuming too much processed food is also a bad move and sports enthusiasts should be doing all they can to get hold of good natural fruit and vegetables.

“Whatever sport you’re doing, you’ve still got to eat healthily,” the expert said.

“It needs to be quality, not processed, nutrient-dense food that covers the various food groups.”

Mr Bannock appears to be well placed to offer advice on boosting performance, as London Irish are one of the top rugby teams in the UK, having finished fifth in the Aviva Premiership last season
