Consider a green kitchen, consumers urged

People planning to build kitchen extension, or those thinking of the giving the room a facelift, may well be tempted to make a few green choices when carrying out their home improvements.

Such is the opinion of industry commentator Gwendolyn Bounds, who makes her comments in a blog in the online pages of the Wall Street Journal.

Ms Bounds suggests that a range of steps can be taken to make a property more efficient and healthier.

These include painting with low volatile organic compound paint, which has fewer gaseous pollutants than its regular counterparts.

Furthermore, whenever a wall has been taken down or is being built up then layers of insulation should be added as they will make room temperature more comfortable and also reduce energy bills.

In related news, property firm Green Moves UK suggested in recent days that now is an opportune time to build an ecologically-friendly property.
