Conservatory owners should have home revalued

Homeowners who have added a conservatory or glazed extension should get their home revalued to establish its true worth, a property expert has suggested.

In a time where the housing market is as unpredictable as it has ever been, it is important to know the true value when looking to sell, according to Mouseprice business development director Jonathan Upton.

Mr Upton explained that buyer interest tends to increase at the beginning of the year and that an accurately priced property will attract much more attention.

"This is the busiest time and [interest is] bound to be up now," he said.

"A property marketed at the right price is going to generate far more interest than one which might be perceived as being overvalued."

The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries recently called on the government to rush forward its new banking proposals to increase the number of successful mortgage applications and stimulate the housing market.

Conservatories are likely to attract new buyers, especially with a warmer than average summer forecast.
