Conservatory owners should be wary of garden thefts

Brits who have spent thousands of pounds making their garden and conservatory an idyllic place to spend the summer have been warned not to let criminals ruin it.

Some homeowners spend thousands of pounds creating their ideal place to spend the warmer months by building a conservatory and garden to match their needs.

However, a number of insurance providers – including Halifax and Saga – have recently stated garden paradises could soon be turned into disaster zones as the criminal fraternity tends to target them more in summer.

Cheshire Building Society advised people to check their insurance policies to see if their conservatory, garden furniture, plants and equipment are covered.

Homeowners should not just assume they are included, product manager Karen Torson asserted.

"This isnt always the case and it can leave people feeling hugely let down by their insurance providers if their claim is not met in full or, worse still, declined," she explained.

Ms Torson added being covered could provide homeowners with peace of mind – something that should allow them to enjoy their garden and conservatory without worrying.
