Company invites nominations for green space renovation

A gardening hand tools company has urged those interested in greenhouses and horticulture to come forward and nominate a local green space for renovation.

Fiskars is offering the makeovers as a way of giving back to communities and is providing growers with the opportunity to help make their local environment a more pleasant place to live.

Those who are really keen to see a particular site given a makeover can also volunteer to help out, with applications for both being available on the Fiskars Orange Thumb campaign website.

While the online resource also contains useful hints and tips for horticulture enthusiasts, gardeners can also write to the company to highlight where they think the work would be best carried out.

"Given the nature and pressures of urban regeneration, the creation and maintenance of public green spaces is becoming ever more prevalent," explained Fiskars senior brand manager Wayne Greensmith.

Each person who nominates a green space for renovation will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win £250 worth of gardening equipment.
