Celebrity gardener to reveal under cover secrets

Writer and broadcaster Anne Swithinbank is scheduled to speak at West Dean College this Saturday (June 4th) between 14:30 and 15:30 BST in a talk entitled Under Cover, the Crawley Observer reports.

During the presentation, Ms Swithinbank will discuss the benefits of growing crops under cover and the skills required to do it effectively.

“Any kind of cover can revolutionise your gardening,” she explained. “You’ll find you can steal a march on time and soil conditions by raising young vegetable plants in pots and modules for planting out later.”

Plants up for discussion will be tomatoes, peppers, aubergines and passion fruits, all of which could spend their whole life under glass.

After the talk, there will be a question and answer session, followed by cream tea and a chance to explore West Dean’s Kitchen garden
