Celebrity gardener drops in to convention

BBC Gardeners World host Alys Fowler gave a talk and signed copies of her book at the Garden Organic Master Composter Conference.

The event took place on Saturday (July 25th) and was attended by experts and enthusiasts who shared views, techniques and ideas on creating and using the substance in green spaces and glass houses.

Ms Fowlers speech was followed by a talk on the use of insects in compost by entomologist Peter Smithers.

“It is our aim to get more local authorities on the [master composter] scheme so that communities can be inspired to start composting at home,” project co-ordinator Pip Bradley explained, adding the organisation was “delighted” to have Ms Fowler present.
