Campbeltown hotel to get glazed extension

A Scottish hotel is to build a glazed extension after obtaining a significant grant from an enterprise body.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) will contribute £93,500 of the Craigard House Hotels £375,000 improvements.

The improvements to the former maternity hospital include a glazed extension to the restaurant that will afford diners a marvellous view over Campbeltown Loch and the surrounding area.

A Craigard Partnership spokesman explained that the owners are delighted to have secured the funding that will also see upgrades to the hotels disabled facilities, washroom and kitchen.

"A new glazed restaurant extension, approved by Historic Scotland, will offer guests unrivalled views over Campbeltown Loch; while the extensive kitchen refurbishment will provide more scope for the talents of chef Joanne Baird and her team," he said.

"These environmentally-friendly and financially prudent improvements, including a ground source heat pump system, are a vital step to further future expansion in bedrooms and guest facilities."

Homeowners who enjoy dining with a view can have their own bespoke glazed extension built.

A lean-to conservatory is an excellent place to hold a dinner party, with views over the garden creating a relaxed feel.
