Bupa garden receives Chelsea gold

The garden entered into the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show by Bupa has been awarded a gold medal by judges, it has been announced.

Designed by Cleve West, the brief for the green space was to create a garden that would not only look good for a week, but would also withstand the test of time for staff, residents and relatives in a care home environment.

Mr West comments: "After ten months of planning and three weeks of hard work to create the garden, its great to get this recognition. It has been a real team effort and Id like to thank everyone involved in bringing the garden to life."

The garden is due to be transferred to Meadbank Nursing Centre in Battersea where it can be enjoyed by residents, staff and their relatives.

A number of other gardens at the show received gold awards, including the one designed by Tom Stuart-Smith for Laurent-Perrier, which also picked up the best in show award.
