Belford community benefits from new garden

Belford residents will now be able to enjoy gardening with other members of the community following the launch of a new green area.

Developed to allow people of all ages to enjoy the great outdoors, the new Potting Shed Garden at the Bell View Resource Centre holds vegetable beds and offers other gardening opportunities, reports the Northumberland Gazette.

Villagers have been working hard over the past few weeks to ensure the facility was ready for the general public.

Paul Harrison, development manager at the resource centre, told the publication: "We are always on the lookout for new volunteers to get involved with this new and exciting project, which has raised beds, a poly tunnel and potting shed which are all fully accessible."

The Bell View Resource Centre – which cost £1.5 million to build and provides support for the older generation in the region – was officially opened by the Duchess of Northumberland in May 2005, according to the Berwick Advertiser.
