BBC gears up for RHS show

With the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Autumn Harvest Show set to take place in less than a week, BBC 2’s Gardeners’ World programme is set to feature a special edition to help get growers in the mood.

The show takes place in London’s RHS Lindley and Lawrence Halls on October 5th and 6th and garden and greenhouse lovers can prepare by tuning in on Friday night (October 1st) at 19:00 BST.

They will see presenter Joe Swift take on the challenge of growing vegetables that are good enough to be displayed at an RHS event.

Despite his expertise, Mr Swift will be seen struggling to harvest the perfect specimens and notices the intensity of work required to produce show-winning food.

He calls on the assistance of Welsh expert Charlie Maisey, who has had numerous vegetable-growing accolades bestowed on him over the years.

Between them, the men will distribute numerous tips, including advice on how to get the best out of carrots, onions and beans.

In other news, popular Cornish garden attraction the Trevano Estate has been put up for sale, the RHS reported.
