B&Q named UKs most popular garden website

The most popular home and garden website in the UK has been revealed by an internet analysis firm.

Experian Hitwise reported that B&Qs diy.com racked up the most hits in the week to May 1st, almost doubling the percentage points of its nearest competitor.

The online resource took an 8.46 per cent share of the sector, while homebase.co.uk achieved 4.97 per cent, Horticulture Week revealed.

However, screwfix.com was not far behind, with a 4.66 per cent stake in the market, with the rest of the top five made up of ikea.com and wickes.co.uk.

Meanwhile, B&Q has launched a competition through its TradePoint counters to find the UK tradesman with the best wolf whistle.

Entrants will be judged on volume, range, creativity, etiquette and tunefulness, with the final decision coming down to David Morris, who holds the title of Worlds Best Whistler.

In other news, a Walford and North Shropshire College student is set to go up against the professionals at the forthcoming BBC Gardeners World Live event by entering a show garden of his own, Horticulture Week reported.
