An internationally renowned artist has helped illuminate an historic glazed building in the US.

James Turrell came up with the permanent light display that now lights up John F. Wolfe Palm House at Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus.

The beautiful arrangement sees the conservatory filled with changing levels and colours of light throughout the night.

Conservatory executive director Bruce Harkey praised Mr Turrells work, saying it would enhance the reputation of the facility.

"James Turrells architectural light project transforms the Palm House and will draw visitors from across Ohio and around the globe to Franklin Park to watch the building perform," he said.

The 1895 Victorian glass house was designed by local architect JM Freese and is the only horticulture facility in the world to own a signature collection from internationally renowned artist, Dale Chihuly.

Mr Chihuly recently exhibited his work at the opening of the Rhode Island School of Designs new facility."ADNFCR-1495-ID-18828299-ADNFCR"
