Howdon Library in North Tyneside is to be torn down and replaced with a brand new building, complete with conservatory and family learning centre.
The conservatory will overlook the facilitys garden and will give users a relaxing and cosy place in which to sit and read.
Plans were given the go-ahead following funding to the tune of £1.3 million being donated to the project by the Big Lottery Community Libraries Fund, according to the Northumberland Gazette.
Local mayor John Harrison told the paper that the facilitys users were a big part of the planning process.
"This is set to be a great community facility. Whats important is that our team worked closely with local people to make sure we develop what they want," he said.
"The new building will give more space for activities, offering wider access and making use of the sites garden for the first time."
It was recently reported that Cherie Blair, wife of former prime minister Tony Blair, had opened a new cancer unit at a Wirral hospital, offering patients a warm place to admire the hospitals gardens and aid healing.
