Shed Collection Greenhouse enthusiasts might want to support the Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) Campaign for School gardening as the organisation aims to get 4.2 million children on to a patch by 2012.

The campaign, supported by high street supermarket chain Waitrose, has been running since 2007 and members of the RHS are hoping more and more schools sign up and reap the benefits.

Some of the advantages of signing up include access to training courses and a host of online resources such as gardening advice and potential case studies. Each school is also sent a free starter pack that contains seeds and pH testing kits, among other things.

Strategic schools manager for the RHS Jacky Chave said about the campaign: "Currently we have 42 per cent of UK primary schools on board which, considering the pressures currently on schools, is a really good number."

Last month, the Sun revealed it had continued its scheme to get more children into gardens by partnering the Fermoys Garden Centre in Devon with a number of different schools in the area.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800922589-ADNFCR
