Now is the perfect time to plant tulips
Greenhouse enthusiasts hoping to have a bloom of tulips between May and March should start thinking about planting the flower in the next couple of weeks, according to an expert.
Editor of StopWatchGardener - a website aimed at time-strapped gardeners - Sheila Averbuch said people should be looking to plant tulips or snow drops now so that they can come into bloom at the correct time.
Ms Averbuch also suggested that putting a seat in the garden which can receive some sun during the winter can help encourage people on to their patch despite the cold weather.
"If you're going to have a container with something in it's the perfect time to plant tulips. November through December, even into early January - you can plant tulips," she added.
Last month, editor of Gardeners World Adam Pasco suggested now was the time for people to start planting their bulbs so they can get as much water as possible in the coming weeks to aid root development.
