The Sun encourages more people into the garden
Greenhouse enthusiasts might be more inclined to head into the garden and unearth their hidden horticultural talents upon learning that The Sun is trying to encourage more children to head outdoors.
The newspaper's scheme last year partnered the Fermoys Garden Centre in Devon with a number of schools in the area so that children can learn more about which foods to grow and healthy eating. This year it has joined with the Meadow Croft Garden Centre in Essex with the same hopes for success.
Hilary Gibbard, a teacher from one of the Devon schools involved in the initiative last year Landscove Primary, said a representative from the Royal Horticultural Society is coming to visit the institution next month.
"Our children enjoyed it so much last spring. I looked at the RHS schools scheme and realised we have done everything for all their levels for schools bench marking," she told the news provider.
The Love The Garden scheme is jointly sponsored by The Sun, Miracle Gro and the Chelsea Flower Show.
