Glasshouses Students in Dorset are swiftly becoming interested in greenhouses and gardening as they celebrated reaching the latest milestone in the Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) Campaign for School Gardening.

Up to 100 students at Portland's Royal Manor Arts College helped the institution pass level three in the RHS's campaign, with work that included helping community gardens in the area such as the Young Offender Institution's allotment.

Applied learning coordinator at the school Kate Carter told the Dorset Echo that gardening was good for the children as they got to watch something grow and seeing the end results aided organisational skills.

"The successful completion of level three recognises the student's efforts and proves how much gardening the school does and how much we teach the children," she added.

The Campaign for School Gardening is aimed at providing incentives to schools to encourage children to take an active part in tending to gardens and garner more interest in greenhouses.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800747890-ADNFCR
