Cold Frames Collection People with greenhouses will be able to testify that gardening has a profound healing affect both physically and emotionally and the driving forces behind the proposed Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre in Salisbury is that it can help the patients in their care.

Consultant spinal surgeon David Chapple hopes to have the garden up and running by next summer in order to aid in the patients' therapy.

Annie Mow, who spent 10 months in the facility after a riding accident, found that rehab centred on sports just reminded her about her disability and so needed to find another form of therapy.

"Gardening though, made me feel wonderfully ordinary," Ms Mow told the Daily Telegraph.

Mr Chapple said that gardening works by stimulating movement in a more peaceful and beautiful environment.

Research from horticulture charity Thrive suggested that gardening can often have a positive effect on the physical and mental wellbeing of people.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800728639-ADNFCR
