Shed Collection Greenhouse enthusiasts might be interested to hear that The Royal Horticultural Society and The Wildlife Trusts have launched their Big Wildlife Garden competition.

The competition urges members of the public to encourage wildlife to prosper in their garden in the hope that people are inspired to turn their gardens into wildlife havens.

Head of landscaping for The Wildlife Trusts Paul Wilkinson believes the competition can make a big difference in the way people use their gardens.

"The Big Wildlife Garden competition aims to raise awareness of the role we can all play in becoming nature's guardians," he added.

Entries for the competition must be in by May 20th 2012 and prizes include a wildlife gardening masterclass at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show as well as membership to both The Wildlife Trusts and the Royal Horticultural Society.

The competition has been inspired by the government's Natural Environment White Paper, which stressed the need for gardens to be havens for wildlife and pollinating insects.
