Garden party raises money for Cancer Research UK
Cancer survivor Beatrice Robson may have encouraged many to start using a greenhouse as a fund-raising venue after collecting over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK by holding a garden party at her home.
Mrs Robson organised a garden party to celebrate her 67th birthday, five years after being told she had terminal ovarian cancer.
Since then Mrs Robson has been given the all clear and to say thank you for the treatment she received, she turned the event into a fund raiser.
She told the Morpeth Herald that the day had been a huge success.
"Before the event, I was determined to raise £1,000 so I have exceeded that. I would like to thank everybody for their help and support," she added.
Mrs Robson raised £1,325 in total for Cancer Research UK, with people paying for tickets and entertainment for the day.
This event came on the same weekend that Clovenfords celebrated its first gardens show.
