Glasshouses Manchester United could not be separated from their two most bitter Premier League rivals, as thousands of gardeners and greenhouse enthusiasts flocked to Tatton Park.

The Cheshire-based venue is hosting the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show, which started yesterday (July 20th).

One of the features of the four-day event is the Football Garden category, which saw landscape gardeners with a love of the beautiful game and gorgeous flowers display their creativity.

As it turned out, gardens depicting United and their north-west neighbours Liverpool and Manchester City each received silver medals from judges.

Mike Ball and Paul Morris were the brains behind the United arrangement and the former told the Manchester Evening News: "We're landscape gardeners but we're also into our football."

Over in Merseyside, it was revealed that Liverpool's Festival Gardens - which have been the subject of a £3.7 million revamp - will not open until September, after the contractor completing the work went out of business.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800629488-ADNFCR
