Classic Greenhouses Young gardening and greenhouse enthusiasts at a school in Ham have received a welcome cash boost for their allotment project.

Students at Grey Court school have been handed a £500 donation by the Ham and Petersham Association, as thanks for their work as volunteers at the recent Ham Open Gardens event.

The group were also singled out for the money because of the great work they do with the local community and teachers say they will use the donation to ensure the children's gardening activities can have a long-term future.

Grey Court teacher and allotment overseer Sylvia Munday said: "We had funding for the initial build and establishing of the allotment but this contribution makes all the difference because it makes the allotment sustainable as an ongoing project."

A Big Lottery Local Food Programme grant is enabling youngsters to learn about growing vegetables in Kelmarsh Hall's 18th century walled garden, the Northampton Chronicle reported recently.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800626768-ADNFCR
