Electrical goods in the shed at risk of damage
Greenhouse and gardening enthusiasts need to be aware that carelessness with the equipment in their shed can cause them to receive an electric shock, it has been suggested.
Speaking ahead of National Shed Week, head of communications and campaigns at the Electrical Safety Council Cherry Read said faulty appliances cause 23 per cent of all electrical shocks in the UK .
Devices in the shed are particularly at risk, she continued, as "leaks and that kind of thing can be a big issue".
There are a few simple safety measures people can follow to prevent accidents happening, Ms Read added.
"Before you take your garden equipment out for the first time, just check that you don't have frayed leads, water damage or anything that looks dodgy. If it looks dodgy, it probably is dodgy," she remarked.
