Bespoke Greenhouses June is the month when gardeners and greenhouse enthusiasts can start to enjoy the fruits of their labours in the year so far, an expert has suggested.

In an article for the Northampton Chronicle and Echo, Northampton Garden Centre plant expert David Major said many early varieties of vegetables can be harvested this month.

It is no time for gardeners to rest on their laurels, however, as the heat over the next few months means every plant needs plenty of water if it is to thrive, Mr Major commented.

Lawns need plenty of food in the form of liquid fertiliser, he continued, while it is also a good idea to keep grass blades longer to prevent them drying out.

It is also important to take steps to ensure the survival of local wildlife, the expert explained, saying: "Dry weather can reduce the amount of food available for birds and hedgehogs, keep water bowls topped up and provide extra food."ADNFCR-1495-ID-800569055-ADNFCR
