Joanna Lumley: Working in my garden makes me feel better
Celebrity gardener Joanna Lumley is the face of National Lawn Week and she has described just how much she loves working in her outside space.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the actress and star of TV comedy Absolutely Fabulous said she often feels so satisfied with her day's work she stands and admires it later in the day.
Tending to her garden makes her feel healthier and gives her a thrill few other activities can match, Ms Lumley continued.
"If you look after your garden, it feels better and this makes you feel better. There's enough chaos in life in general so you don't want to let your garden become chaotic, too," she explained.
She went on to trumpet the benefits of a beautifully kept lawn, suggesting that their quintessential Britishness make them a delight.
"I love lying on a lawn in summer and watching insects climbing up and down the grass," she added.
