Glasshouses Greenhouse enthusiasts may be interested to hear that ten schools in Merseyside have been picked from hundreds of entries to receive free gardening advice and equipment.

The Big Go and Grow campaign - run by St Johns and Clayton Square shopping centres City Central Businesses and Arriva Buses - decided on the winning entrants, who will soon get their hands on seeds, compost and much more, the Formby Times reports.

Pupils at each education institution nominated their own school for the chance to take part in the event, which is scheduled to culminate in the creation of a giant allotment in Williamson Square on July 13th.

From there, the green-fingered kids will sell the produce they have grown to raise money for their school.

"They will also win prizes for the largest vegetables and tallest flowers as well as the vegetable that looks most like a celebrity," the newspaper stated.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800508216-ADNFCR
