Bespoke Greenhouses Greenhouse enthusiasts may be interested to learn the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is to provide care homes with wild birds and insects for their gardens.

As part of its Homes for Wildlife project, the RSPB is teaming up with Bupa care homes in Powys to encourage Britain's endangered species, such as house sparrows, song thrushes, bees and butterflies, to flourish.

The charity hopes it will ignite a passion for wildlife among care home residents through a number of activities.

Mike Walker, reserve manager at RSPB Lake Vyrnwy in Powys, said residents and staff have already been very enthusiastic about the project, especially considering the evidence that suggests green spaces and wildlife can be beneficial for the elderly.

"We hope both people and wildlife will reap the rewards of this partnership," he added.

Head gardener at Pensthorpe Imogen Checketts recently told the Norwich Evening News that gardening can be great for people's wellbeing, especially those recovering from illness.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800354685-ADNFCR
